this is not ALWAYS the issue. Just because a hood doesn't line up isn't because of a FUBAR core support. Relax. The latch should be the FIRST thing to fidget with, PERIOD. Chances are, you could correct the issue my making the latch sit lower, HOWEVER, if the core support is bent up than OBVIOUSLY, BOOZTD 3's method would apply. Like I said, it all depends. I suppose you're right, the upper support will give before the lower core support will, so a scissor jack may not be a good solution to this problem, the mallet just seems so primitive, but whatever works.
